Updated Wordpress, Test Post

I finally got of of my arse and updated the software that runs this site. I also changed the sidebar to give me more width to be able to place larger images on the posts. I’m seriously thinking of doing away with the site as it is and setting it up as a straight up photoblog, that is what it is turning into anyway.

A Cross and a Truck

This is the only photo I took today. It started raining right after taking it :( I shot a lot of film yesterday, but needed some instant gratification so took the digital with me while I was out. This is next to some trailer park on Virginia Beach Blvd near Oceana Blvd.

I am in the spotlight

At the beginning of the year I joined The Virginia Beach Photo Club, a great group of folks and a club with an active schedule and a lot to offer. This month I’m fortunate enough to be the member who is written about in the monthly newsletter - something pretty cool to me!

Click here for the pdf version of the August Newsletter. One of my answers is already outdated, the one about awards I’ve won - I’ll let the suspense kill all ten of you until later this week!

My NYC Trip

I had a great time in New York last week. Drew is a great host, the city is a great place to spend a few days. It was very inspiring for a photography enthusiast, and six days is the perfect amount of time to stay.

One of the things I like about the place is you can get off of the subway in Brooklyn and see this:

The Store

Turn around 180 degrees to see this stapled to a plywood wall:

Shows!

You can then walk 10 minutes to this peacefulness (Prospect Park):

Prospect Park

Then walk a few minutes from there to see this piece of history (that I wish I framed better):

The Soldiers' and Sailors' Arch

I’ve gotten all of the negatives and slides scanned in - my flickr set is available to you by clicking here, or you can view a slideshow by clicking here.

Enjoy! Let me know what you think of them. I know they aren’t all masterpieces, but there are a few gems in there. The important thing to me is that I had a lot of fun and learned a lot in the process.

What have I been doing in New York?

Me, at Light Table
Checking out slides I just got back on the light table at Duggal Visual Solutions, a very awesome place that I wish was near me.

Me, Framing up the Brooklyn Bridge
Me framing up the Brooklyn Bridge. I hope the photos I took turn out!

These were all taken by Drew yesterday.

I’ve been uploading photos to Flickr, and am going to end up with 3 or 4 more rolls to get developed when I return home. I’ll post a gallery when they’ve all come in.

Went to Coney Island

Me at Coney Island

Drew took this photo.

Drew and I left the ‘hood around 1 in the afternoon to hit the J then the Q headed to Coney Island. What a crazy place! I’ll have photos soon I hope - shot a roll of 35mm slide film in the EOS 3 and two rolls of 120 in the Holga (it really is a Holga place).

Not much for words today.
