Please slide my way.

I think I'm in love.

Your E-6 processing is in.

That’s all I needed to hear. Today I went to the photo lab where I dropped off my first roll of slide film to get processed last week. I plunked my checkcard on the counter excited to walk over to the lightbox and put a loupe to the slides. I was not prepared for what happened next.

Magic.

There is nothing more magical in this photography world that I have discovered than viewing my slides through a loupe. The Fuji Velvia 100F’s colors were just perfect - I nailed most exposures and you could cut yourself on how sharp they are. I’m hooked already, and I haven’t even scanned one of the slides yet. If anything pushes me to get a dedicated film scanner, this is it. If anything keeps me from using my digital, this is it. If anything pushes me to take pictures of the most mundane things just because I like the colors, this is it. If anything perfectly captures what I saw and felt when I clicked the shutter, this is it.

Last month I purchased a used Canon EOS 3 35mm camera with full intentions of using it for slide film. I wanted a good, modern camera that I could share the lenses from my Canon digital SLR (Rebel XTi) with. I am real glad that I did now. I have found what I was looking for. For now…

Stay tuned - I intend to shoot a ton of slide film in Brooklyn and more of NYC when I go for a vacation later this week.

Note: the above image is not one of the better composed, I just took a quick snapshot using my laptop as a light source. I should have picked a different slide, but this shows the colors good enough.
